Sports : Alan Kenneth, 'Voice of the Rams,' silenced - Rio Rancho Observer
My uncle died this holiday. He meant a lot to me. I learned quite a bit about being human within bureaucracy from him.
We Langes and Kenneths have always been born performers, and my uncle was no exception. He was the announcer for any Rio Rancho HS game where there was a mic and a PA. And as much as he might not call himself a social activist, my Uncle Al would announce a girls volleyball or soccer game with as much verve and passion as a boys bastketball game. He gave his time and effort as a booster at Rio Rancho HS for all sports big and small.
Linked to these words is an article about a fun, kind, dedicated man who was also my uncle. Read it if you like. He is an example of the big shoes we all as humans have to fill if we believe in the power of virtue and empathy. Alan sure did.
Greater people than I will miss him.
In so many ways, he is what I aspire to.
